Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday stated the Centre alone can’t take a choice on resuming passenger flights and state governments needs to be prepared to permit these providers within the spirit of cooperative federalism.

All scheduled industrial passenger flights have been suspended in India since March 25, when the Modi authorities imposed lockdown to curb the unfold of coronavirus.

“It’s not as much as the Ministry of Civil Aviation or the Centre alone to resolve on resuming home flights. Within the spirit of cooperative federalism, the federal government of states the place these flights will take off & land needs to be prepared to permit civil aviation operations,” Puri tweeted.

Throughout the lockdown interval, cargo flights, medical evacuation flights and particular flights accepted by the Director Normal of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have been allowed to function.

The primary, second and third section of lockdown was between March 25 to April 14, April 15 to Might Three and Might Four to Might 17, respectively. The fourth section began from Might 18 and would finish on Might 31.
